October 11, 2019
Wood Islands, PE – Wayne Phelan, Conservative Candidate for Cardigan, released the following statement regarding the importance of reliable ferry service:

“Canada’s Conservatives understand the importance of reliable ferry service here on Prince Edward Island. After years of continuous empty promises and a summer of debilitating shutdowns, I am so very pleased to announce that a new Conservative government will immediately replace the aging MV Holiday Island and continue to support interprovincial ferry services.”

“Businesses in Cardigan depend on the Wood Islands ferry and I know that many of them suffered because of the shutdowns throughout the summer. I am committed to fighting for your priorities and finally fulfilling a REAL long-term contract so employees can make long-term plans and not rely on empty promises made by the Liberals.”

“Islanders deserve a strong voice in Ottawa and a government that will keep taxes low and put their interests first. Complacency has no place in government and I am committed to ending it here in the riding of Cardigan.”
